Standard rollerball bottles hold 10ml or about 1/3 of an ounce. When blending for a rollerball, you will want 8 to 10 drops of your chosen essential oil in the bottle as well as the carrier oil.

Jojoba is a great carrier oil for anything you’re going to put on your skin as it is unlikely to cause irritation and is easily absorbed. Sweet almond oil, avocado oil, and safflower oil are also great choices.

Let’s go through some of my all time favorite blends that I always have on hand and love to use!

Relaxation Blend

Chamomile is critical to any calming blend; this plant offers relief to many allergy sufferers as well as those struggling with life stress. To your relaxation blend, also add lavender, clary sage and ylang-ylang. Start with a light touch and test this blend under your chin. If it causes no irritation, dab a bit on your temples and rub it in at the end of a long day.

Combine 1/3 oz. avocado oil with 2 drops of clary sage essential oil, 2 drops of chamomile essential oil, 2 drops of ylang-ylang essential oil, and 2 drops of lavender essential oil.

floral blend

Floral Perfume Blend

For a fragrance that doesn’t cause a headache or overpowering reaction, make a DIY perfume of geranium, chamomile, and lavender.

Combine 1/3 oz. sweet almond oil with 3 drops of geranium essential oil, 4 drops of chamomile essential oil, and 3 drops of lavender essential oil.

Focus Blend

If the post-lunch drowsy phase has set in, try a quick roll-on containing rosemary, frankincense and peppermint. For many essential oil users, rosemary is particularly energizing, so try to do your blending projects early in the day to avoid problems winding down later.

Combine 1/3 oz. jojoba oil with 3 drops of rosemary essential oil, 3 drops of frankincense essential oil, and 3 drops of peppermint essential oil.

Energy Blend

The citrus scents hold sway when you need a bump of energy to complete your daily tasks. Lemon, grapefruit, and ginger would be a great combo for your personal dose of natural energy. Try just a dab of this on pulse points under your ears to power up for a tough task.

Combine 1/3 oz. sweet almond oil with 3 drops of lemon essential oil, 3 drops of grapefruit essential oil, and 3 drops of ginger essential oil.

breath blend

Breathe Easy Blend

Whether you’re struggling to breathe deeply because of stress, illness or chronic condition, a blend for your rollerball to help you inhale fully is critical. Try a blend using oregano, peppermint and eucalyptus to start. To sweeten this combination, try a drop of frankincense in the blend.

Combine 1/3 oz. avocado oil with 4 drops of oregano essential oil, 4 drops of eucalyptus essential oil, and 2 drops of peppermint essential oil.

Pick Me Up Blend

Cinnamon is the scent that will give you a shot or boost of energy when you really need it. If you get tired or really struggle with focus late in the afternoon and a nap isn’t an option, a blend of rosemary, peppermint and that super-booster cinnamon can lift both your spirits and your energy. Try just a dab on your wrist or forearm so you can sniff as needed; cinnamon can be a bit heady and not everyone likes it close to their face.

Combine 1/3 oz. avocado oil with 6 drops of rosemary essential oil, 2 drops of peppermint essential oil, and 2 drops of cinnamon essential oil.

Immune Support Blend

Current world conditions have everyone terribly stressed, and stressed means that your immune system is under additional pressure. There are a few essential oils you can use to support your immune system as needed. Tea tree is a natural antibiotic. Thyme, lemon, and rosemary also have properties that can help to boost your immune system. This blend together can be a little astringent, so it can be balanced with a bit of lavender.

Combine 1/3 oz. sweet almond oil with 2 drops of tea tree essential oil, 2 drops of thyme essential oil, 2 drops of lemon essential oil, 2 drops of rosemary essential oil, and 2 drops of lavender essential oil.

romance blend

Romance Blend

Sexual intimacy is a great way to relieve tension, but stress and exhaustion can get in the way. Strive to set a date with your mate and blend a mix of rose, geranium, and ylang-ylang to promote both relaxation and libido.

Combine 1/3 oz. safflower oil with 3 drops of rose essential oil, 4 drops of ylang ylang essential oil, and 3 drops of geranium essential oil.

Wind Down Blend

Once everyone is home and you’re all in for the evening, it’s time to wind down. Cedarwood and valerian blended with calming lavender will have you settling in and snuggling down with your loved ones. Again, cedarwood is quite intense. A quick roll of this on your wrist or arm should be enough to soothe your mind and settle your spirit before bed.

Combine 1/3 oz. jojoba oil with 3 drops of valerian essential oil, 4 drops of lavender essential oil, and 3 drops of cedarwood essential oil.

Sleep Blend

After winding down, falling asleep and staying there are crucial to maintaining good physical and mental health. In addition to the restful help of lavender and the soothing scent of frankincense, you can also add a bit of vetiver to your roller bottle. This essential oil is used as a shielding agent against infection in hot, humid climates and is incorporated in the thatch on roofs. Let it guard your rest as well.

Combine 1/3 oz. sweet almond oil with 3 drops of frankincense essential oil, 4 drops of lavender essential oil, and 3 drops of vetiver essential oil.

I hope you enjoy all these amazing essential oil rollerball recipes!
